Week 5:
Monday (5-4-09):
Today I did my first track workout. Intervals baby! I started off with a simple warm-up of jogging a lap and some stretches. I did 4x 400 meters at 80-85 second pace with 2 minutes rest after each run. Then I took a walk for about 300 meters and rested a little. To finished I did 4x 100 meters fully sprinting walking back to rest after each. This was definitely a good hard workout to start me off this week.
Tuesday (5-5-09):
I had a team practice and we did some basic skill drills and a scrimmage type drill. I did about average, but I was a little tired. After I did a few sets of some core drills to try out what my new routine might be.
Wednesday (5-6-09):
Rest.
Thursday (5-7-09):
I had a game today and we lost. I, however, am getting so fit! I didn’t play bad, but not great, but I was able to run throughout the whole game and I never got subbed. I had some good passes and usual and some good chances for goal that were a little unlucky. I feel I need to create more opportunities and I will be great.
Friday (5-8-09):
Rest.
Saturday (5-9-09):
Today we had a game and we won. I got an early goal and made some great passes. My level of play wasn’t quite as good as my most recent games but I still did fine and again my fitness is really showing! It’s so exciting and I’m sure it seems really repetitive that I bring it up so much but it’s hard not to when it makes such an obvious impact on my playing. I was subbed for about 5 minutes in this game, but played the rest.
Sunday (5-10-09):
Today I ran an easy 3 miles, not really worrying about the time because it was more of a recovery run and to make sure my fitness levels don’t suffer from too much of a break. After that I did my new core routine, which was hard! It’s nice to do something a little challenging again. But, for some read the planks seemed to be making my arms more sore than my core so I might video tape myself to ensure I’m using correct form.
Notes on this week: One more game and then I have a break for myself to work a lot on fitness and skills. I've been focusing a lot on fitness lately but I've noticed that my basic skills could use a little touching up here and there so I'll do a little more wall work and the like next week.
